Trent Reznor is my hero. not long ago he got pissed off at his record company, and did something about it.

After he completed his contract he went truly Indy, and released a bunch of music on the “Radiohead” idea of pay what you want kind of deal. Now today he has released a new track for free. find it here http://discipline.nin.com/

Now I can’t explain enough my love of Mark Lanegan’s voice. (It may be evident by my post about Tom Waits and Daniel Persson), but I would give my left nut to sing like him. Think whisky and cigarettes, but in a good way…

I urge you to get a copy of Ballad Of The Broken Seas by Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanagan. this is one of my top 3 favorite albums of all time. Just short of perfection. You must hear this album!

And if you feel a little more adventurous then you should check out Soulsavers. a kind of gospel, hip hop, industrial, whatever featuring Mark on vocals on 10 of the 12 tracks. This is quickly moving up my list of favorites.

I truly wish I was better with words so I could explain how good these albums are. I know this is not mainstream pop radio crap, but you don’t need me trying to sell you any of that. (It’s already on the radio.)

I love it when I have an epiphany, and last night was no exception. I just realized how vulnerable you feel when you are puking. You instantly become a wounded puppy, and you want no one to even see you, much less help. Some sort of animal instinct takes over.

I guess it helped that I was not the one sitting there expelling 3 gallons of Vodka.

I think you only feel more vulnerable when you are naked. I have some sort of top five fears of having to fight someone while I’m naked. I’d rather have my feet tied together than to scrap in the nude.

OK, I know about music.

I could do a daily post about bands or albums you should know about. Hell I could do 3 post a day about that! and spend a week on Tom Waits alone. So lets start there.

As I write this, I am listening to Mule Variations by Tom Waits. Now, Tom is truly an artist that can do many, many things. From jazzy piano ballads to psychedelic rock and blues. and he dose it all on Mule Variations. Tom is also one of those guys the more I try to describe him the more words start to fail me. All I can say is if you think you are an open minded fan of music then you should own some Tom Waits. and Mule Variations is probably a great starter for a first timer.

I knew going into this whole blog world that I would have a tough time writing, but its so far been next to impossible.

Every day I rack my brain thinking of what I should blog about. Ideas come and go and I have started a few topics but they just plain out sucked. Part of me says give it up, I couldn’t pass a junior high creative writing class, but I feel the overwhelming need to blog.

 Maybe it due to to a nonexistent social life, maybe I have something to contribute to the world, or maybe I’m just bored. No matter the reason I will press on, and force myself to post at least 3 times a week with an overall goal of every other day.

I won’t count this one.
